The Mighty Bard release their first single in 8 years, with new singer Benj!

The Mighty Bard release Magician, the Prog Rock band’s first new music in eight years.
The English group release first single since 2014, with a new album set to follow this autumn .
The Mighty Bard have released Magician, their first new music for eight years and first to feature new singer, Benj, alongside founding members Dave Clarke on Guitars and Neil Cockle, formerly of Silmarillion, on keyboards; Mark Cadman on bass; Tom Mear on Drums; and Mark Parker on violin.

The song can be downloaded for free from the band’s website – – and is available on all streaming services.
Magician is the first track to be taken from the band’s upcoming album, Beyond the Gate, which will be launched independently by the band later in the year.  Featuring all the elements you’d expect from a classic Prog track, Magician takes the listener on an exhilarating journey through light and shade to epic and baroque, all wrapped-up in a six-minute single.
The Mighty Bard’s ‘new’ singer, Benj, joined the band back in 2018, but due to a combination of ‘just not getting it together quickly enough’ and ‘Covid delays’, this is the first time his voice will be heard on a new track by the band, following the release of a new mix of ‘Bird’ from The Mighty Bard’s first album, Blue God and Other Stories, last year.
“I’m really excited to be a part of the renaissance of the Bard after we collectively spent far too long writing and noodling versus getting some of these great tunes out to the Progressive world,” explains Benj, who also wrote the lyrics for the new song. “Prog has always been my first love, and in Magician, I hope our fans will get the same ‘happy place’ feeling I have when giving it a spin.”
Guitarist and founder member, Dave Clarke, adds: “We’ve gone a bit quiet of late, but the release of Magician draws a line in the sand on our lack of activity! We can’t wait to release new music in the months to come, and I hope the unique and eclectic mix of music on Beyond the Gate, starting with Magician, will make up for the amount of time we’ve spent away.”
With two more single releases due ahead of the launch of Beyond the Gate in October – just in time for Christmas! –  Prog fans are invited to join The Mighty Bard’s mailing list and follow them on social media for updates, news and views.
The Mighty Bard are:
Benj – Vocals
